Most professionals are trained in what to say in a hard conversation. Very few are trained in how they interpret what they’re hearing while the other person is speaking — the assumption behind a complaint, the real question underneath a stated one, the signal in what’s left unsaid.
This is the core capability assessed in ICF credentialing, and it underpins effective coaching, leadership, and decision-making in any role built on conversation. It is also the foundation of our ICF-accredited Level 2 coaching certification.
This training is designed for professionals who want to improve how they navigate real conversations and for those considering formal coach training and ICF certification.
Over two live sessions, you’ll practice this skill directly on real scenarios with ICF-credentialed teachers. You’ll learn to identify what is actually being communicated beneath the words, and begin to recognize the structure behind conversations in real time. You’ll also see exactly how our ICF-accredited Level 2 certification is structured, including the pathway to becoming a professional coach for those who choose to pursue it.

The three levels of listening, and how to hear the layer most people talk right past. You’ll run a live paired exercise and get feedback in the room.
Reading the assumption.
How words hide the belief driving the person, and the questions that surface it without pushing — the core of what ICF certification assesses. More live practice, more feedback.

Read a conversation more accurately and ask a sharper question because of it.

You’ll be guided through paired practice with clear guardrails, safely and without pressure. Both sessions include live demonstrations of perceptive listening, acknowledgment, and ethical coaching. You’ll witness the contrast between ordinary listening and trained, perceptive coaching in real time.
NEW to ICF?
The International Coaching Federation is the field’s recognized standard — the credential clients and employers look for. Our program is ICF Level 2–accredited, so the training and practice hours count toward it.
You don’t need to know any of this to join the sessions; it’s simply what the path looks like if you choose it.
