ILCATE | ICF-ACCREDITED | MENTOR COACH SPECIALIZATION

Are You Ready for the MCS?

A checklist for experienced mentor coaches

Why it matters: from January 1, 2027, ICF credential candidates must work with a mentor coach who holds the Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS).

The Credit for Prior Learning path

☐ I hold an active PCC or MCC, or a renewed ACC.

☐ I have completed at least 10 hours of mentor coaching education from an ICF-accredited provider.

☐ I have completed ICF evaluation training for each credential level I want to mentor.

☐ I can show evidence of five mentees who earned an ICF credential in the past three years, or a letter from an ICF-accredited provider.

☐ I have submitted my MCS application to ICF.

Good to know

The MCS is valid for three years and renews with 10 CCE hours.

ICF lists the application fee at $50 (members) and $125 (non-members) through March 2027, rising to $125 and $200 from April 2027.

Coaches without a PCC, MCC or renewed ACC follow a longer standard path of 41 hours of education.

Where ILCATE fits: 2 of the 3 requirements

Our ICF-accredited mentor coach education program covers two of the three requirements: the 10 hours of mentor coaching education and the evidence of five mentored mentees. It also guides you toward the third, ICF evaluation training. Three live Sundays on Zoom starting November 15 (10am to 1pm PST), plus one hour one-on-one with a mentor coach. Interactive, with practice. Recordings and training materials included. $900 early registration until November 12; regular $1,111.

Free info sessions: November 3 and November 10, 5 to 6pm PST.
