Keep mentoring after January 1: complete your 10-hour MCS education

From January 1, 2027, ICF credential candidates must work with a mentor coach who holds the Mentor Coach Specialization. If you already mentor, our 3-week program covers two of the three requirements: the 10 hours of mentor coaching education and the evidence of five mentored mentees. It also guides you toward the third, ICF evaluation training.

First cohort starts November 15, 2026: three live Sundays on Zoom, 10am to 1pm PST. Early registration $900 until November 12, regular tuition $1,111. Recordings and materials included. Free info sessions November 3 and 10, 5 to 6pm PST.

What ICF requires of an experienced mentor coach

ICF offers a Credit for Prior Learning path to the MCS for long-time mentor coaches. It has four parts. Our program covers parts 1 and 4 and guides you through part 3.

1. 10 hours of mentor coaching education

At least 10 hours, aligned with the ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies. Our program provides this.

2. An active credential

An active PCC or MCC, or a renewed ACC, in good standing.

3. ICF evaluation training

The current ICF evaluation training for each level you want (ACC BARS, PCC Markers or MCC BARS). You take it through ICF; we explain it and guide you through it. These hours do not count toward the 10.

4. Evidence of five mentees

Proof that five mentor coaching clients earned a credential in the past three years, or a letter from an ICF accredited provider confirming you mentored at least five students in that period. Our program covers this requirement too.

Who this program is for

  • PCC and MCC coaches who currently mentor ACC or PCC candidates
  • Program assessors and faculty at ICF-accredited schools
  • Experienced coaches who want to be listed in ICF's Mentor Coach Registry
Not eligible yet? If you do not hold a PCC, MCC or renewed ACC, or you are new to mentor coaching, you can join our main program, Excel, our ICF Level 2 accredited coach training, and build toward your credential first.

Questions

Does this program give me the MCS?

Through March 2027, ICF lists $50 for members and $125 for non-members. From April 2027 it lists $125 and $200. This fee is paid to ICF and is separate from our tuition.
